Yarra Ranges ratepayers forking out thousands to pay for Councillor Fiona McAllister’s childcare

3AW Drive host Tom Elliott and the president of Victoria’s local governance association have had a fiery clash after it was revealed ratepayers were paying for a councillor’s childcare fees.

Yarra Ranges ratepayers are forking out $8000 to pay for Cr Fiona McAllister’s childcare fees, in a move backed unanimously by council on September 8.

Sebastian Klein told Tom Elliott it was entirely appropriate for Cr McAllister to claim that money, which left the 3AW Drive host fuming.

‘You are speaking like a classic person who is paid for by the ratepayer,’ Tom said.
