A Word on the Street caller has told Tom Elliott his workplace was sent 40 tickets to the AFLX round on Friday night ahead of the debut of the round-robin tournament.

The shorter format has been met with intrigue and criticism, with questions raised over how seriously clubs will take the pre-season competition.

Caller Marty said his workplace had received about 40-50 free tickets to the games being played on Friday night.

“How well is the AFLX going when a whole swag of free tickets to this Friday’s game were sent to my workplace and there’s no takers whatsoever?”

Tom Elliott suggested a reverse auction could do the trick.
