Tom Elliott has called a decision by Woolworths to use imported fruit for their home-brand tinned fruit “wrong”.

His comments come after Australian business SPC told suppliers they were cutting back on peaches and pears by almost 40 per cent due to the cost of living.

“If that’s the case, I think it’s wrong … Australians survey after survey say we want to consume things that are made in Australia, and this is particularly the case with food,” he said.
