Why women are drowning in Victoria at an alarming rate
The number of women drowning in Victoria has jumped to alarming rates.
There’s been a 50 per cent spike in the past 12 months with 17 women drowning, compared to the 10-year average of 11 in Life Saving Victoria’s annual drowning report.
Senior manager at Life Saving Victoria, Andrew English, claimed the statistics are an “anomaly” but did have a key reason why women are drowning more often in the state.
