Victorians want a local council shake-up.
Polling found 57 per cent of people were in support of councils being merged or abolished, with 46 per cent of people supportive of the state government taking charge of services.
Dean Hurlston, vice-president of Ratepayers Victoria, told 3AW Breakfast he wasn’t surprised.
“Not one bit,” he said.
“The public is growing very tired of councils because they’re straying too far away and heading into ideological waters, rather than simply providing good service and good value.”
