Why Victorians are still leaving the state in droves
It appears Victorians are still leaving en masse, with 103,000 people leaving the state in the year to June.
New figures released on Thursday show more than 85,000 people moved to Victoria during the same period, leaving the state with a net loss of 17,233.
Social researcher and demographer Mark McCrindle says a few factors explain the continued Victorian exodus.

“Affordability is one of the big things and if we look at Queensland, which is where the bulk of those departures from Victoria are going, house prices are more affordable there,” he told Jacqui Felgate and Jimmy Bartel, filling in for Ross and Russel.
“There’s a bit more flexibility around where people can work from … they can relocate and perhaps even keep their job with them.”
Queensland is the most popular relocation destination, with 55,400 people moving there from other states.
