Why Victoria Police acting chief commissioner won’t apply for top job
Victoria Police Acting Chief Commissioner Rick Nugent has backflipped and decided to not apply for the top job.
The top cop joined 3AW Breakfast on Wednesday morning and told Ross and Russel it’s a very “demanding” role.
“It’s a role that requires someone to do the full five years and the longer it went, the more I realised its not in me to do the full five years,” Nugent said.

“I made the decision last Friday that I wouldn’t put in for the job, but I’ll stay as long as the government needs me to stay.”
