Former US president Donald Trump has entered a not guilty plea in a Miami court on 37 charges levelled against him.

Trump is accused of violating seven federal laws by hiding classified national security documents in his Florida home after leaving office.

Reporter at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Tamar Hallerman, who is currently in Miami, says the former president could continue his 2024 presidential campaign even if he were jailed.

“The requirements for running for office here in America, they’re surprisingly sparse,” she told Ross and Russel. “You could even continue to run a campaign from prison.”

Ms Hallerman says that’s not likely on these charges, but “there are other investigations … that could carry even potentially bigger jail time if he were to be convicted there”.

“We’re really in uncharted waters.”
