Tony Jones has stated he is “genuinely torn” when it comes to the topic of pill testing at music festivals.

The NSW government is set to trial pill testing at festivals in early 2025, with the Allan government in Victoria set to do the same at the Beyond the Valley festival over the new year period.

“This is one of these issues where I don’t have a definitive view,” Jones said.

President of Harm Reduction Australia and Pill Testing Australia, Gino Vumbaca, said people particularly at music festivals often have “very little knowledge or correct information” about the drugs they’re about to consume.

“I don’t want them to take those risks, but young people do,” Mr Vumbuca told Tony Jones.
