Why Tom Elliott is against the push to reinstate mask rules this winter
Tom Elliott says he’s against a push from the Greens that would see some mask requirements reinstated to slow the spread of COVID.
He says Victorians have done enough and it’s time to move on.
“I am against it,” the 3AW Drive host said on Monday.
“There is no doubt if we all went back to wearing a mask everywhere it would probably reduce the spread of COVID – I accept the health advice on that.
“However, and it’s a big however, wearing a mask is a very visible reminder of how bad life was over the past two years.
“I think now that the vast majority of us are vaccinated, we’ve learned to live with COVID and we just want to get on with our lives.
“One of the issues I have with masks is that they limit social interaction.
“It is hard to have a good conversation with somebody when you can’t see their mouth and can’t tell if they’re smiling, frowning, or whatever.”
