Why this infectious disease expert is calling for calm over COVID concerns

An infectious disease expert has played down claims Victoria is back to “square one” when it comes to dealing with COVID.

Former Australian Medical Association president, Dr Mukesh Haikerwal, told Channel 9 a lot of people had become “blasé” about coronavirus.

Dr Peter Collignon told Neil Mitchell that may be true, but the high level of vaccinations is proving very effective.

“I don’t think it’s as bad as a whole lot of people are making out,” he said.
