Why there’s a tradie shortage in Victoria
Interim CEO of the Master Builders Association, Michaela Lihou, says Victoria doesn’t have the required population to keep up with slated infrastructure projects.

Ms Lihou added there needs to be a strategy to encourage new workers into the building industry.
It comes after the collapse of construction giant Porter Davis, which left around 1700 homes unfinished in Queensland and Victoria.
“We need to look at things like mentoring, support for apprentices, financial incentives, more support for employers,” Ms Lihou said on 3AW Mornings.
“And if we don’t address the problem things will only get worse as more baby boomers leave.”
