If you’ve seen a lot of black and white butterflies lately, you’re not imagining things!

Caper white butterflies are everywhere at the moment.

Senior curator of entomology at Museums Victoria, Dr Ken Walker, says they’ve been blown off course during their annual migration.

“They normally live along the Great Dividing Range and then they fly inland,” he told Ross and Russel.

“All the hot weather we’ve been having down in Melbourne here has come from the winds that have blown all of the hot weather, all of the hot air, from central Australia.

“They wish to go inland.”
