Shadow Aboriginal Affairs Minister Peter Walsh says he had a “responsibility” to opposite a treaty with Victoria’s indigenous people, hoping the call will help provide a overall better outcome for all Victorians.

Mr Walsh told Tom Elliott the Coalition made the call to help push through change and bring the wider discussion around the treaty to the forefront of people’s minds.

“We thought we had a responsibility to call it out because no one was listening,” he said on 3AW Mornings.
