Tom Elliott has likened accusations of the AFL helping players evade match day detections of illicit drugs to the Essendon drugs saga.

Independent MP Andrew Wilkie read a signed statement from Melbourne’s former doctor Zeeshan Arain in parliament last night, claiming tests would be conducted at Dorevitch Pathology in Heidelberg so players would avoid detection of illegal drugs on game day.

“I think this could prove to be the Melbourne Football Club’s ‘Essendon moment’,” the 3AW Mornings host said.
