Why the 2024 draft is being judged differently to previous years

Cal Twomey says he’s judging this year’s draft differently to last year purely because of how even it is.

Rather than a clear-cut favourite to be taken with this year’s top pick, the 2024 draft is widely considered to be deeper and more event than previous seasons.

Twomey told Wide World of Sports says this year’s draft was strong across the board, which would please the likes of Richmond and St Kilda who have multiple top selection.

“This year’s group is strong,” Twomey told Sam McClure.

“It’s even and that’s made it more difficult than ever before to work out who is going where. There isn’t a Harley Reid at the top – this year there’s a different categorisation to the top end.”
