The Albanese government is taking social media giants TikTok and Meta to task, launching a probe on potential harm they’re causing Australians.

It marks the first time such a wide-ranging parliamentary enquiry on social media has been launched.

Technology regulation expert Dr Rob Nicholls says it’s a landmark moment for how Australians engage with news outlets on social platforms.

“Social media has changed the way news is delivered,” he told Ross and Russ on 3AW Breakfast.
