He lost his mother and a former girlfriend to suicide, a sister to cancer and suffered post-traumatic amnesia that left him “convinced” he was an 11-year-old Japanese girl after he was hit by a car.
But Samuel Johnson couldn’t be more adamant he’s had a “terrific” life.
“Oh yeah – absolutely,” the much-loved Australian actor told Neil Mitchell on What Makes You Tick.

He’s the first to admit he’s had his challenges and been incredibly cynical about “human kind” at times.
“We can’t control what happens in life, but we can control how we respond,” Johnson said.
Johnson opened up about the incident where he suffered head trauma while being struck by a car on the side of a road.
He spent three days in hospital convinced he was an 11-year-old Japanese girl.
“Strange things happen when you undergo a brain injury,” he said.
