The much-loved Melbourne Cup parade has been shelved for a second consecutive year.

The parade paused during COVID before making a brief comeback in 2022, with the Victorian Racing Club (VRC) launching a live site last year to mark the four-day carnival.

But in 2024, the parade won’t take place once again – but for a very good reason.

“It’s a big decision and one we haven’t taken lightly,” VRC chairman Neil Wilson told Ross and Russ.

“It’s an important event for Melbourne.”
