Why Leigh Matthews doesn’t want ‘fair dinkum’ footy in February

A common topic of discussion in the AFL community is the potential for games such as the State of Origin to be played prior to the start of the season in February.
Leigh Matthews isn’t a fan of having “fair dinkum” State of Origin matches in February and thinks exhibition games such as the Indigenous All-Stars should only be played in that month.
“State of Origin footy I think is more fair dinkum then exhibition footy, so on that basis never in February and never mid-week.” Matthews said on 3AW Football.
