Former Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr says current Kamala Harris would be a “very poor choice” to succeed current US President Joe Biden if he opts to drop out of the race ahead of November’s election.

Multiple reports out of the US overnight on Friday (AEST) suggest key Democrats now doubt whether Biden will be able to win the election up against Donald Trump.

But as talk turns to who could replace Mr Biden in the race, Mr Carr told Elliott says the current US Vice President would be the wrong call.

“I think she’d be a very poor choice (to replace Joe Biden as Democrat nominee),” Bob Carr told 3AW Mornings.

“There’s so much ambivalence about her and very little to sell about her record.”
