Victoria is suffering from a shortage of Christmas trees this festive season.

Some tree sellers have already been forced to shut up shop, with supply issues and high demand believed to be the main problems.

Judith Bowman owns the Sunbury Christmas Tree Farm and told 3AW Breakfast customers had come to them because their usual suppliers were unavailable.

She said the COVID-19 pandemic had also played its part.

“Last year, we had a lot of new customers saying to us they were trying a real tree for the very first time because of the COVID year they really wanted to celebrate fully and properly,” she said.

“I think COVID has had an effect there.”
