There are fears Labor is again going to go after franking credits with new legislation.

Treasurer Jim Chalmers said on Monday the proposed changes were “nothing like” the bigger shake-up that Labor took to the 2019 election, but not everybody is convinced.

“What concerns us is the looseness of the wording of the proposed legislation,” Geoff Wilson, who is founder, chairman and chief investment officer at Wilson Asset Management, told Tom Elliott.

Gerry Harvey, Chairman of Harvey Norman, said any decision to change the law, retrospectively, wasn’t acceptable.

“That is about as bad as you can get,” he said.
