Why Google Maps keeps suggesting the West Gate Bridge
Tech expert Trevor Long believes Google Maps is simply guessing the three-hour delays over the West Gate Bridge aren’t real, and so is still directing people to drive there.
It comes after the West Gate shut four of its five outbound lanes due to maintenance works until Wednesday.
However, Google Maps is still telling motorist that the delays are just 30 minutes.
“Maybe their system is so confused by how slow the traffic is, that it’s not accounting for it as being real,” he told Shane McInnes on 3AW Mornings.
“And I think that’s what Google will be looking at right now is how do we make sure that we tick the box and say traffic is bad, because peoples opinions of these app can be absolutely ruined in a single day.
