Why fuel supply won’t be affected by the Geelong oil refinery incident
Geelong’s Viva Energy refinery was thrown into chaos yesterday when a crane cable snapped, causing a 10 tonne compressor to fall six metres onto concrete, with the refinery and its operations coming to a grinding halt.
Viva Energy said the repairs will take three months to complete, with the company expecting a loss of $25 million to $35 million per month.
But the CEO of Australasian Convenience & Petroleum Marketers, Mark McKenzie, is adamant it won’t affect fuel supply.
