Matthew Richardson says it may be time for football club leadership groups to tick off ‘Mad Monday’ outfits before the event to ensure they’re not offensive.

Several GWS players are in hot water after wearing allegedly insensitive costumes to their post-season function, while some are also facing suspension as a result of certain skits performed at the event.

Richo told Wide World of Sports leadership groups should be called on to review potentially insensitive outfits before they were worn.

“It’s got to the point now where the leaders at the footy club need to have the information before you even get to the event,” he said on 3AW.

“Because someone in a leadership position would have a radar on whether (certain costumes) would be acceptable or not – even if there’s a one per cent chance of being offensive to someone…you probably pick (another dress up).”
