Why farmers are ‘very, very nervous’ about Victoria’s land tax changes
Victorian farmers fear the state government’s extension of tax on vacant residential land to regional Victoria will hurt farmers.

Victorian Farmers Federation president Emma Germano says serious fears about how the changes will impact farmers prompted her to write a letter to the Treasurer, Agriculture Minister and Housing Minister.
“We’re all getting very, very nervous,” she told Neil Mitchell. “There’s plenty of farm houses that are reserved for seasonal workers that might only come in and use them for three months of the year, but you need to have them vacant because you can’t get accommodation anywhere else.”
