Tom Elliott recently ordered a couple of items online in Sydney.

They took several weeks to arrive in Melbourne.

And he’s certainly not the first person to experience such a problem this year.

He asked Dr Elizabeth Jackson, a supply chain guru from Curtin University, why it remained such an issue.

“The most basic way to explain the situation is that the systems we’ve become so very, very used to enjoying are just blocked up,” she said on 3AW.

“They are in a complete state of chaos.”
