Why David Schwarz is confident Christian Petracca will play this week

Melbourne great David Schwarz says there is no way the Demons would risk long-term damage to gun midfielder Christian Petracca by playing him in Friday night’s do-or-die final against Brisbane with a broken leg.

Petracca suffered a hairline fracture in his fibula against Sydney last Friday night.

The Demons are adamant he’ll be right to play this week.

Schwarz said on 3AW he was taking that at face value.

“There is no way they’d risk a six-year (contract) player on nearly a million dollars a year for one final – there is no chance of that happening,” he said.
