Why cyclists are being ‘dehumanised’ in public

A new nationwide study has found cyclists who wear helmets and safety gear are perceived as being less human.

Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Transport Studies at Monash University, Associate Professor Alexa Delbosc, spoke to Ross and Russel why this is the case.

President of the Australian Cycling Alliance, Edward Hoare, then spoke to Tony Jones, who is filling in for Neil Mitchell, and made the claim that he doesn’t wear a helmet sometimes as drivers give him more space on the roads.

Tony Jones found the admission “staggering”.
