Why cash ‘isn’t dead in the water’ despite ATMs disappearing across the country
ATMs and EFTPOS machines are disappearing across the country as Australians move towards digital payment systems.
Cash now accounts for just 13 per cent of the number of payments in 2022, compared to 27 per cent in 2019 according to statistics by the Reserve Bank.
But research director at RateCity.com.au Sally Tindall claims there is still demand for cash.
