Why Brisbane AFLW coach Craig Starcevich spends half the year in Switzerland

Brisbane Lions AFLW coach Craig Starcevich is preparing to return to Queensland from Switzerland where he splits his time when he’s not coaching footy.

The unusual arrangement is supported by the Lions, who have an incredible record under Starcevich, reaching six grand finals and winning two flags in his nine seasons at the helm.

“This is the preferred option for everyone and suited my lifestyle because of my wife’s occupation in Switzerland,” he told 3AW Football.

Starcevich is entering the final year of his contract, but says he’s driven in the long term by growing the code in the sunshine state.
