Sam McClure says the AFL should consider banning North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson for Round 1 following a derogatory comment he made following Jimmy Webster’s pre-season head-high hit on Jy Simpkin.

Clarkson has been issued with a please explain over the quarter-time incident, where he is alleged to have confronted both Webster and other St Kilda players following the crude bump.

McClure believes the AFL needs to go further as a result of Clarkson’s rap sheet when it comes to similar type of incidents in the past.

“A fine in my eyes simply isn’t enough,” McClure said on Wide World of Sports.
