The AFL’s newest football department appointment is tipped to “put a target on their back” due to his lack of experience at club level.

According to a report in The Age, the AFL is preparing to announce Nick Carah as its new football operations boss.

Sam McClure told Wide World of Sports the appointment was a curious one for several reasons.

“Clubs have been asking for more experience in the footy department,” he said on 3AW.

“This is why it’s such an interesting appointment, he doesn’t have a lot of football experience.”
