Why a weekly tradition at the Shrine will be ceased after Anzac Day this year

RUMOUR CONFIRMED
The Rumour File was alerted on Monday to the story of an iconic landmark in Melbourne having to cease one of its Sunday traditions immediately after Anzac Day this year.
The rumour was confirmed this morning, with the weekly Last Post Service set to be impacted at the Shrine of Remembrance.

“How disgraceful is that?” 3AW Breakfast host Ross Stevenson said.
“It’s a very significant decision,” fellow host Russel Howcroft said.
CEO of the Shrine of Remembrance, Dean Lee, then clarified the situation at hand later on in the program.
“There has been no funding cut,” Mr Long told Ross and Russel.

The state government has since released the following statement on the story:
“We are proud to support the Shrine of Remembrance – an important part of Victoria’s history, commemorating and honouring those who served in war, peacemaking and peacekeeping.
“We are in ongoing discussions with the Shrine to make sure that the Last Post Service can continue.”
