Who is Luba Grigorovitch?

The Rail, Tram and Bus Union secretary has become the face of the pay dispute that’s already brought Melbourne’s trams to a halt, and seems likely to see train drivers walk off the job on Friday.

But her recent rise to prominence via a series of frank press conferences comes after an already full amd groundbreaking career in the public sector.

Ms Grigorovitch, who turns 30 this year, was a councillor at Hobsons Bay at the age of just 24.

She went on to become deputy mayor and was elected on the board of the Victorian Local Government Association.

At 28, she made history as the first woman and youngest ever secretary of the RBTU, and is considered a potential Labor candidate in the making.
