When rapid antigen tests are likely to get much, much easier to find

Rapid antigen tests will become much, much easier to get your hands on in a couple of weeks time, the director of a major chemist chain predicts.

Chemist Warehouse director Mario Tascone says most Victorian stores are getting about 500 boxes of RATs every second day, and they’re selling out “in about five or 10 minutes”.

But he says that situation is likely to ease soon.

“In about two weeks’ time there will be a shizen load of them,” he told Ross and Russel.

Mr Tascone says all importers of the tests upped their orders over the Christmas and New Year period, and those tests are set to arrive in coming weeks.

“All that stock that everyone has ordered extra is due to land in the next two weeks,” he said.

The Chemist Warehouse director also expects RAT prices to drop as supply increases.

“I think the reason you’ve got some crazy prices out there and some opportunists is the lack of supply. Once supply really starts coming in you’ll see competition in the market and I daresay you’ll get pricing under $10 in about two months,” he said.
