What to expect at Shane Warne’s memorial service tonight
Those going to Shane Warne’s memorial service at the MCG tonight are urged to wear their cricket gear in tribute to the legendary leg spinner.
Shane Warne captivated crowds at the ‘G for two decades, but tonight it’ll be the music of Elton John, Chris Martin and Robbie Williams (via video), Anthony Callea, and Jon Stevens on stage.
Warne’s great rivals Brian Lara, Nasser Hussain and Wasim Akram will all pay tribute.
A minutes silence will take place just before 7pm, when the service gets underway.
The night will see Warne’s children Brooke, Jackson and Summer to unveil the Great Southern Stand’s new name — The Shane Warne Stand.
Entertainment reporter Peter Ford says Shane’s father Keith and brother Jason will also be speaking.
He revealed Robbie Williams has recorded Warne’s favourite song to be played tonight.
“It’s not from his catalogue,” Mr Ford told Ross and Russel.
“Chris Martin will also perform a favourite of Coldplay and also he will be doing the new song he’s written called The Eulogy.
“Jon Stevens will belt out a whole medly of INXS numbers which Warnie loved.”
Tickets are still available for the memorial. They can be purchased HERE.
