State opposition leader Brad Battin has again called for the Allan government to pause construction of the $34 billion Suburban Rail Loop.

As speculation mounts that more contracts for the rail project are about to be signed, Mr Battin told Tom Elliott the state’s “best interests” of the state to look at alternatives.

“Our first and foremost policy is the government needs to cancel (the Suburban Rail Loop) now and stop signing contracts because we can’t afford it,” he said on 3AW Mornings.

“We will pause the project and then make sure whatever we do is in the best interests of the state.”
