What Jim Chalmers had to say on the SRL after the federal budget
Tom Elliott has questioned the Treasurer of Australia Jim Chalmers on whether it’s the end of the Suburban Rail Loop, after no money was allocated to the project in Tuesday night’s federal budget.
The federal government has contributed $2.2 billion to the project, and the Allan government was hoping for an additional $9.3 billion in funding, which didn’t come last night.

“We haven’t made that commitment, we haven’t budgeted for that,” Chalmers said on 3AW Mornings.
“We know it’s part of a much bigger project, but for the time being that’s our commitment.”
