What David Armitage told Jack Billings to inspire him in the VFL
Jack Billings returned to the AFL with a bang on Saturday.
The dangerous Saint half forward had been dropped for St Kilda’s Round 12 clash with Sydney.
But after 53 disposals and three goals in the VFL, he was quickly recalled, and had a big impact in the Saints’ breakthrough win over the Suns.
Experienced midfielder David Armitage was playing alongside Billings in the VFL that day, racking up 41 touches of his own and also earning a recall for Round 13.
Armitage told Billings he’s too good to be playing VFL.
“I said all you’ve got to do is have fun, play with some energy and a bit of flair,” Armitage told 3AW Football on Sunday.
“He’s a switched-on kid, and a very proud kid.”
