‘What a mess’: Tom Elliott reacts to Neil Paterson’s bombshell corruption allegations

Tom Elliott has labelled the state of Victoria’s police force a “mess” amid former Victoria Police Deputy Commissioner Neil Paterson’s bombshell corruption allegations.
Paterson has filed a complaint with IBAC and accused Premier Jacinta Allan, police minister Anthony Carbines and acting police chief Rick Nugent of “corruption and misconduct in public office”.
“That is a terrible look,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

Rick Nugent has since rejected claims he was approached to step into the top job, before Shane Patton and the deputy commissioner were moved on.
In a statement, Nugent says there was “absolutely no discussion” between himself and government about him stepping into the role prior to the weekend of 15-16 February.
Premier Jacinta Allan has also shut down questions about the axing of the state’s two top cops, labelling the claims “baseless”.
