‘We’ve been overwhelmed’: Gelato store targeted by racists

The owners of a gelato store in Melbourne’s south east say they’ve been overwhelmed at the support from their local community after being targeted by racists.

First heard on The Rumour File this morning, the store in Cheltenham received a note which reads, “Asian Gelato, No way, go back to where you came from, S*********”.

Andrew from Paradise Gelato told Ross and John he came in on Monday morning to find the note.

“I came in with my partner Joyce, who the note is targeting, she is of southeast Asian decent but she’s been in Australia for 15 years,” he said.

“It was just slid under the door.

“We never really expected the response we got, we’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by the love and support we’ve got from the community.”
