West Coast coach hits back at ‘insulting’ COVID-19 claims
West Coast coach Adam Simpson says the club is insulted by any suggestion it hasn’t taken COVID-19 “seriously” and that a dismissive attitude helped fuel the current outbreak at the club.
The Eagles have been hammered by coronavirus, with a dozen players unavailable for selection this week.
3AW Football’s Caroline Wilson said last week the AFL was “frustrated” with how the Eagles had handled the matter.
Simpson hit back on Friday night.
“It’s just ridiculous,” he said on 3AW Football.
“You follow everything you possibly can.
“You follow the government guidelines, which, as you’ve probably guessed, are pretty strict over here
“We are pretty much wearing masks 24-7, we separate ourselves in meetings and to suggest anything untoward … it’s insulting, really.”
Simpson said the Eagles were likely to use four COVID top-up players this week.
