Wedding woes: The Willows goes into liquidation

Melbourne couples have been left thousands of dollars out of pocket and without a wedding venue after the sudden closure of popular venue, The Willows.

As reported in The Age, the St Kilda Road venue shut its doors last week, leaving bride-to-be Rhiannen Skelley without a venue for her wedding this Saturday.

Rhiannen told Ross and John she received an email on Friday night saying the company was going into liquidation and they were suspending all immediate action at the venue.

She had The Willows booked two years in advance and had forked out about $8000.

“It was really unfortunate because they were still taking money off us up until last week,” Rhiannen said.

“We haven’t heard anything from them a part from that very general email.

“I’m not feeling very positive about it.”
