‘We have the best medical care’: AFL CEO confident right process was followed with Petracca injury
AFL CEO Andrew Dillon says the league will continue to look at mechanisms which could help diagnose serious injuries such as a ruptured spleen in real time.
Christian Petracca has spent time in ICU this week after leaving the field on King’s Birthday after a late knock to his ribs, which later was confirmed to be a lacerated spleen, punctured lung and multiple broken ribs.
“I’m really glad to hear he’s on the mend,” Dillon said about Petracca on 3AW.

“Our players are incredibly courageous and we have the best medical care at the grounds…as soon as the doctor saw when he went back on that he wasn’t travelling that well, he was taken off and assessed again.”
