‘We have a responsibility’: Hawthorn captain’s plea to call out racism

Hawthorn captain James Sicily says everyone has an ‘obligation’ to call out racism in the wake of Sam Mitchell’s post-match comments on Saturday.

Mitchell began his press conference after the club’s win over Adelaide by condemning a racism post on social media directed at one of his players.

“It’s an obligation for all of us to call all of that stuff out and not leave it to those who are affected by it,” Sicily told 3AW Football.

“We have a responsibly to try and stamp this stuff out and it’s disappointing it’s still coming to a head.”
