“We don’t want anyone falling victim”: Tips from NBN to avoid internet scams

Online and in-person scams are on the rise across Australia.

Jane McNamara from NBN joined Jacqui Felgate on 3AW Drive to discuss how to protect yourself and your family from online scammers.

Ms. McNamara said, “There’s a couple in particular that are, you know, we know are happening across the country at the moment, including, in Victoria and Melbourne.”

“Last year we had about $627,000, which was lost to about 1700 scams. And those scams were impersonating NBN. Although this type of scam activity is on the decrease… it’s still awful and there’s more we can do because we don’t want anyone falling victim to an NBN impersonation scam,” Ms. McNamara continued.
