‘We are SICK of it!’ | Neil Mitchell clashes with Labor MP over Sam Dastyari

Labor MP Richard Marles has passionately defended Sam Dastyari’s character, despite backing his party’s decision to relieve the senator of senior parliamentary duties.

Mr Marles said his colleague had clearly made an error, but had paid a significant price.

“I like Sam, I think Sam makes an enormous contribution, actually, and I think it’s important to remember that at this moment, even though it’s perhaps not the most fashionable thing to do when the feeding frenzy is on,” Mr Marles told Neil Mitchell.

“But that said, the right decision here is to remove Sam from position from the shadow executive and that’s what Bill Shorten has done and Sam accepts that.”

But Neil Mitchell said the public was over it.

“We are sick of being conned,” the 3AW Mornings host said.

“We are sick of politicians trying to trick us.

“We are sick of the double talk.

“We are sick of the dishonesty.

“And this is what we’re getting day and again and this is what we’ve got here. Why in the hell should we pay this bloke’s salary!?”
