Warner out on 99, no ball gives him second chance
David Warner has scored his 21st Test Match century, but it didn’t come without drama at the MCG on Day 1. Warner was almost flawless on his way to 99 before trying to just guide one through mid wicket which resulted in a top edge and Warner was caught.
It brought plenty of joy to first gamer Tom Curran, who thought he had his first Test Match wicket, before replays showed he had over-stepped to give David Warner a second chance at scoring his second Boxing Day century.
England have had a tough day once again, not getting a wicket until the score was 102, so a bit of joy for the exuberant Curran was going to bring a fresh sense of optimism for the tourists. It wasn’t to be though and Warner scored his 21st century the next ball.
Warner was eventually dismissed for 103 after feathering one to Jonny Bairstow off the bowling of Jimmy Anderson.
